Wow. These are incredible.
What an amazing blog....and these paintings are wonderful...I have a real interest because my husband is Persian and his culture inspired my Degree Show work (I'm an artist)....I've drawn Fath Ali Shah's hunting pavillian in pen and ink.......
amazing. very inspirational!
Regarding the weird gloves - perhaps red henna dip?
not weird gloves, it's henna on their hands.beautiful collection of images!
Thank you folks, and thank you for correcting my ignorant "gloves" caption! Will
Incredible...I love the detail. You find the best and most interesting things...Like Gilbert and his lovely dissertation on poets beards. Thank you!

These portraits are incredible. You've edited an amazing selection.
I can see some of the influences on Kay Nielsen in these. Beautiful, thank you.
Oh I love the collection of pics here. Priceless. Thank you so much. And I think the weird camels shown are 'bactrian camels'. Shahenshah was an emperor in North India and these camels are indeed found at the northernmost areas.
Oh I absolutely love these paintings! Have you seen the Indian Miniatures collection at the Met? Breathtaking!
so cool! love it
