Just a thought. How about Extreme Metal covers/calligraphy? Theres a lot of interesting stuff there. Have a look in "Terrorizer" Magazine any month,there's gems amonst the kitsch.
These illustrations are over-the-top fantastic. They have an almost manga quality; I sorta desperately want them to be frames from a much larger graphic novel.
I second Bob's suggestion - I had started a collection of extreme metal logos myself. It is a fascinating graphical 'dialect' that cultivates symmetry and illegibility...
