I used own this book when I was small - was one of my favourites. It is interesting how when you are small you read this book and all you see is an enchanting world and now if you read it you can only see the allegories.
There is also an animation based on this book. You can find it on youtube! Russian psychedelic animation was huge and you can find many famous animations subtitled on youtube.
