"Educates the masses", hmmm. Why only a detail on Café Affair? You've left out Štyrský and his bomb! Gnashing of teeth. OK, three panels is a lot to fit in.
I hope people will be pleasantly surprised when they click through that image to see the three panels. (A Giornale Nuovo trick I think I under-utilize.)Thanks Karla!
Some of it seems like new objectivity meets surrealism. Some echoes Russian futurism. Interesting, but not very sexually stimulating.
Hoffman was a member of the Devětsil group in the 1920s. I think we can hypothesize that for the most part he left explicit sex to his friends in the Prague surrealist group, although he did contribute some erotic drawings to Štyrský's Erotická revue.
wow,i could stare at these for hours, totally beautiful.
The Cocteau drawing would indicate he has a talent for satire. I wonder if the name "Adolf" will ever make a comeback?
The Strange World of Max Ernst...how this is a collage..damn. Blows my mind. Agree on the hint of futurism.
what an awesome collection of works, those top three especially...wow! thanks!
