I have run out of robot-themed Soviet kids' books to feature, but I definitely expect to find more. I don't expect to find one that will top "Mummy was a robot."
Alex, I need some Galambos, thanks for the reminder. I would love to find a book with illustrations like this.
This is great, love the cover.
ReplyDeleteThe inside front cover of cogs is just mesmerising. Those Soviet kids had spectacular reading matter...
ReplyDeleteMaybe I already namechecked this guy but these remind me a lot of a Hungarian artist called Tamas Galambos - have a peek.

This new collection keeps the promises of this wonderful earlier quote: "Mummy was a robot, daddy was a small nonstick kitchen utensil". :-)

ReplyDeleteMikhail Romadin, the artist who illustrated the book is my neighbour. By the way he worked as art director in Solaris, genial movie by Tarkovski.
