Interesting to see that Siri Andrews was Beverly Cleary's favorite teacher at library school. (I'm going to assume it's the same Siri Andrews because anything else just seems like too great a coincidence.)
Was also translated into German as "Little Karl's Journey in the Soap-bubble". A shot of the cover is here: http://www.antiquariat-libelle.ch/aktuell/kinderbilderbuecher.htm -- the bookseller attributes it to "Lindberg, M[arie]", I don't know if that is of any use in trying to find out more about the author -- every place else I have seen agrees that her name was Maja.
The cursive handwriting on the cover threw me off at first -- I wouldn't have guessed "Maja" before looking it up. Now it seems clear. It's strange that the German edition leaves the author off the cover completely.
Wonderful! I especially love the way it goes off at a tangent to "pancakes and jam". Beautiful colours and a sweet story idea.
